Hello, I’m Sarah Brannen. I’d love to help you begin your Ashtanga yoga journey.
It's important to find the right yoga teacher and the right class for you. If you're looking for an experienced teacher, who loves to help people find joy through yoga you're in the right place.
Getting started is often the hardest step. To make sure you are supported along the way I run specific beginners courses a few times each year, and a 4 week trial of any of my Ashtanga Yoga classes that can be started at any time.

Beginners Ashtanga Yoga Courses
My 5 or 6 week courses are specially designed for beginners or those with yoga experience who are new to Ashtanga Yoga. See below for upcoming dates and details of beginners yoga courses in St Andrews, Fife.

4 Week Ashtanga Yoga Trial
If the beginners courses are fully booked or the dates don’t quite work for you, the 4-week Intro Pass lets you try things out. It’s designed to help you get a feel for Ashtanga, try out my teaching, and build confidence while you wait for the next full course. This pass gives you up to four weeks of classes so you can try things out at your own pace before committing to a regular class.
Please note:
This Intro Pass is a taster option for new students and doesn’t include the structured, step-by-step learning you’ll receive in the beginners courses. If you prefer a guided programme with weekly progression and personalised support, one of the beginners courses will be a better fit.

If you are new to yoga I would recommend starting with a Mysore style class before attending a led Ashtanga class as this gives you a chance to find your feet at a slower pace. Mysore Style classes in Ashtanga Yoga are a way to give each student one to one teaching in a group class. Everyone will learn the sequence step by step, and practice at their own pace with guidance and personalised adjustments from the teacher. This personal approach makes the Mysore classes a perfect place for beginners.

Sunday Introduction to Mysore Courses
Perfect if you’d like to:
learn the Ashtanga sequence step by step
move at your own pace with plenty of individual support
understand how Mysore-style self practice works
begin in a small group
This course is limited to 5 students, making it ideal if you prefer lots of personal guidance.
Thursday Beginners Course
Perfect if you’d like to:
learn in a guided, follow-along format
build your strength and stamina as we move through this dynamic sequence
join a welcoming class you can continue to attend weekly
This class has a friendly group size and clear instruction so you’ll always feel supported. Please note a basic level of fitness is required for this course.
4-Week Ashtanga Trial Pass

you have yoga experience and want to try out my teaching
The 4-week trial pass gives you the flexibility to try out my weekly Ashtanga classes at any point in the year. Giving you the chance to explore the options and find a routine that works.

What is Ashtanga Yoga?
Ashtanga Yoga is a dynamic and structured style of yoga that follows a set sequence of postures, linking breath with movement to create a flowing and meditative practice.
Unlike Hatha Yoga, where postures are typically held for longer periods, Ashtanga follows a continuous flow, making it physically engaging and deeply transformative.
