Sarah Brannen, Ashtanga practitioner, yoga teacher & family yoga teacher in St. Andrews.
About
Hello, I’m Sarah Brannen.
I’m a senior yoga teacher, Ashtanga practitioner, continuing education provider, and founder of Warm Hearts Yoga and SkyLight Yoga Space, in St Andrews, Fife.
My yoga journey began over 20 years ago, when I discovered the practice as a student. Like many people, my relationship with yoga has changed and evolved throughout my life, but I have always been drawn back to the steady rhythm, focus and depth of Ashtanga Yoga.
I started Warm Hearts Yoga in 2013 after struggling to find the kind of yoga classes I was looking for as a new mum. I wanted a space where people could come together, feel supported, and experience yoga as something much deeper than simply exercise. What began with baby yoga classes has grown into a community offering yoga for all ages, from babies and children to adults and experienced practitioners.
Today, I teach a range of traditional yoga classes including Ashtanga Yoga, Mysore-style practice, Everyday Yoga, family yoga, workshops, retreats and teacher training. I love sharing yoga in a way that honours its roots while making the practice accessible and relevant to modern life.
I passionately believe that yoga can provide so much more than strength, flexibility and fitness. My Ashtanga yoga practice helps me to find a sense of calm amidst the chaos, to remain steady through the constant change, to love and accept myself, and to find a path to follow that feels right.
My practice
Ashtanga Yoga has been the foundation of my personal practice for many years. I love the way this traditional system combines breath, movement and concentration to create a moving meditation.
My own practice has supported me through many stages of life, from early adulthood to motherhood and beyond. It continues to challenge me, humble me and remind me that yoga is not about achieving a perfect shape, but about developing awareness, resilience and compassion.
I continue to study with experienced teachers, including my teachers at Ashtanga Yoga Edinburgh, and I am currently working through third series. I am endlessly grateful for the teachers and students who continue to shape my understanding of this practice.
Creating space for yoga
In 2026, Warm Hearts Yoga grew into something I had dreamed of for many years: SkyLight Yoga Space, a dedicated space in the heart of St Andrews.
SkyLight embodies the three essential elements of yoga practice: the teacher, the community and the space itself. It represents everything I have always wanted Warm Hearts Yoga to be: a welcoming place where people can practise, learn, connect and grow.
Whether you are stepping onto a yoga mat for the first time, returning after many years away, or deepening an established practice, you are welcome here.
I believe yoga has something to offer everyone, and I would love to share the practice with you.
Join me for a Yoga session.
